Why is important for one to understand how creative writing differs throughout the ages & all over the world?
For my classroom management course, I have to write a lesson plan for a 6th grade English class based on teaching the art of haiku. For one of the sections, I need to write a rationale (aka en explanation for why the material needs to be taught). I gave my teacher my lesson plan in advance for feedback. My rationale is:
Students have been studying various types of poetry throughout the current unit. It is important for one to understand how creative writing differs throughout the ages and all over the world.
However, my teacher commented on it and said “Why is it important for students to understand this info? Please elaborate.
I don’t know what else to say. People need to learn how to read and write and poetry plays a huge part in that. How should I say that professionally? What else can I say to support my reasoning for teaching this topic?
Supposedly by studying the way the language of a culture developed, and culture in general, you can better understand the psychological structure of society from which you’ve been conditioned. In other words, you’re understanding yourself as a social entity that you call “you,” the ego, in which the random history of events has led to its creation.
